Good service isn't just windows, doors and conservatories going in straight. Half of it is the boring stuff behind the scenes: getting the right file to the right person, keeping paperwork sorted, not making customers chase us for things.
Two tools do a lot of that heavy lifting for us: FileToUrl and UrlToPdf. Both were built by Vertuvel LLP, who also put together our website, so we've had them on hand from early on.
Files into links
FileToUrl is about as simple as tools get. Upload something, get a link back. That's it. No more "the file's too big for email" or hunting through an inbox for an attachment someone sent three weeks ago.
We use it for whatever needs sending that day, photos, documents, whatever. It's stuck around because it just works and nobody on the team had to be shown twice.
Web pages into PDFs
UrlToPdf runs the other direction. Give it a web page, it hands back a proper PDF a minute later. Useful for anything online you'd rather keep as an actual file, a quote, a confirmation, a page you don't want to lose if the site changes.
Why we're mentioning it
Both have Chrome extensions too, so they live in the toolbar rather than as another tab you have to remember exists. That's really the whole pitch: they're free, they're quick, and they save you the small annoyances that add up over a working week.
