What Stockport Homeowners Actually Say About Getting Windows Fitted

Ask most people what they expect from a glazing job and you'll get the same two words back: pushy and messy. A salesman who won't leave the sofa until you've signed something, then a fitting crew who leave plaster dust on every windowsill and a skip full of your patience on the drive.

That's not what our customers say. We're a family-led, founder-run glazing company based in Hazel Grove, Stockport, with over 40 years in the trade and FENSA registration to show for it. Rather than tell you that ourselves, we went looking at what homeowners across Stockport, Wilmslow, Bramhall and the wider Greater Manchester and Cheshire area have actually written about us on Checkatrade, TrustATrader and Conservatory Companies UK. The same handful of things kept coming up, unprompted. Here's what they actually said, not what we'd like them to say.

The quote: no pressure

Before anyone commits to new windows or doors, they want to know one thing: will I get the hard sell? Homeowner Melissa Moore, who had five windows and two doors fitted, said Shahram was “friendly and approachable and, most importantly,” she didn't feel pressured to proceed with the quote.

Reviewer Kay Akbar had a similar experience from the other direction. She got quotes from four different suppliers before choosing Affinity Glass, and found ours the most competitive of the lot. On Conservatory Companies UK, Sonia Ahmed described the pricing as competitive with workmanship to match, adding that there was “no messing about.”

That doesn't mean the quote is an afterthought, it just means nobody's leaning on you to sign it before you're ready.

The install: on time, tidy, done properly

Punctuality and cleanliness come up in almost every review we could find, and it's backed up by the numbers too. TrustATrader's own scoring has Affinity Glass at 5.0 out of 5 for punctuality and 4.87 out of 5 for cleanliness, averaged across 15 independently rated jobs.

Melissa's fitters “arrived by 9am all three days” and cleaned up after themselves each evening, down to checking the silicone lines were straight and repairing render they'd disturbed along the way. A Checkatrade reviewer having bay and bathroom windows installed said the team “always arrived on time and worked in a very clean and organised way, leaving everything neat and tidy each day.” Another Checkatrade reviewer, having two bay windows replaced, called the installers “very tidy” about leaving the work area “as clean as possible.” On Conservatory Companies UK, Kerry-Jane Moakes called her finished install “exceptionally clean and tidy,” adding that everything was “immaculate” by the time the team left.

After the job: they don't disappear

This is the part that's harder for any company to fake, because it only shows up years later, when there's nothing left to sell you.

Reviewer Julia Clay had a door fitted by Affinity Glass around eleven years before she wrote her review. When a minor problem came up long after the job was finished, she said the team “remembered us and fixed it,” and said she was very grateful for it. It isn't a one-off. TrustATrader reviewer Jim Grassick noticed the wrong trickle vents had been fitted during a three-window job; Shahram arranged replacement frames and had them fitted within a week, which Grassick called “good old-fashioned customer service.” Another reviewer, Rick Coppack, had a door lock fail two years after his install. Shahram, he said, responded straightaway and had it replaced immediately, calling it “brilliant customer service.” And reviewer Kay Akbar, whose four windows were fitted over two days, said Shahram also fixed her patio doors while he was there, a repair she'd already been told by other companies wasn't possible.

Would they use Affinity Glass again?

A customer who comes back is about the best review a tradesperson can get. Reviewer Luke O'Neil used Affinity Glass at his first property in 2017, then again at a new house in 2020, praising a high-end finish that needed “little to no work required after.” He mentioned, almost in passing, that the team had even helped him move a large sofa through the new lounge window before fitting it, the kind of favour that doesn't show up on an invoice.

Reviewer Kaloyan had two bay windows replaced and has returned for various PVC window repairs “throughout the years.” Wei Wei, after a full house window and door replacement, put it simply: they'd “definitely go back to them” for any future window and door work. And George P, who had windows and doors fitted at his property, described the whole process as “straightforward from the moment we met until the job was done,” which is about as good a summary as any homeowner could ask for.
